Easter Week & Finland

Week 33 & 34:

Hello Everyone,

As you know I did not post about week 33 because there was not a lot going on that week and I was in Finland and was touring around! So to start off this post I will start with week 33. The start of the week I did not do too much, but I did book the appointment for my tattoo. On Thursday afternoon at 15:00 I went to the tattoo shop to get started with my tattoo.  The first hour he had look over the design and then he ran to get saran wrap and other stuff to protect the tattoo after it was finished. If you do not have me on Facebook that is where I posted to explanation of the tattoo and how it is meaningful to myself. I will link it here --Tattoo Explanation--to see the explanation just click that and it will take you to the post I made about it.
Friday was a holiday and that is when I traveled to Finland. I took the train from Mora to Stockholm which was direct and took 3.5 hrs. Without any problems, I managed to get checked in and through security and guess what, I was not suspected of being a drug dealer with these security agents (Refer to earlier posts about that comment). Then I had about 2 hrs. to wait for my plane. After boarding and being towed away from the gate I started a timer to see how long it took from Gate to Gate. It was about 51 min to get from Arlanda to Helsinki airport. It was a quick flight compared to my flights in June which are Stockholm to Frankfurt 2 hrs 10 min. Then from Frankfurt to Toronto is a 9 hr 4 min flight....aha, I can not wait -.-!
Now I will talk about my week in Finland. When I got to Finland it was 22:00 and the Åhlgren's live in Tampere which is just over 2 hrs away from Helsinki. So Harri's sister came to pick me up and I slept at her house for the night. I got to meet Viivi the Pitbull. Viivi loves people...a lot!  So I had to shut the door when I went to bed or else I would have a visitor in bed in the morning aha. Sure enough, when I woke up and opened up the bedroom door Viivi was right at the door waiting. From Harri's sister's house we traveled a couple hours to Grandma's house for lunch. Grandma was a very nice lady but she could not speak any English. In saying that, among the Scandinavian countries I am starting to notice most elderly people do not speak any English. Unfortunately, we did not get to talk much unless Harri's sister translated for me. Harri, Elisa and Suvi came to pick me up from there. After fika we went to the house where I met Åbama. Yes I love dogs, but Åbama is a little psycho dog. He never loses energy and he will literally jump on you whenever he sees you...no matter how long you have been living in the house.
On Saturday night we went to watch Tappara team. In Tampere they have two Men's team that play in the same league, Tappara is one and Ilves.  When Tommi was younger he played for the Tappara team.  Harri and I went with a close friend to Harri and his name was Petri (I think that is how it is spelled). Tappara played a good game and they won 5-3 against Lukko. One very different thing in hockey here is that the leading scorers of each team wear a Gold chrome painted helmet. On Sunday the family went to Elisa's parent's house to have Easter. The house is a very nice house and it was built by Elisa's father. It was a nice wood house and had a very large fireplace inside. I actually ate lamb there. I never thought I would try lamb but it was not too bad, just a little different.  After lunch we went out to throw the Javelin, and I will not be a Javelin thrower anytime soon in my life! Following that Harri and I took a tour around Tampere where I got to see the different parts of Tampere and I got to see the private dock they have their row boat at. It was a very nice place to see and also a great opportunity to see all of Tampere.
On the 28th, Harri and I went to the summer house which is an hour away from Tampere. They have two summer houses since they bought the lot beside their summer house too.  Harri just built their new one and it is a very nice summer house! I will have pictures below from it and where it is. Tommi usually fishes there and his buddies and him tube, water ski and use the sauna too. We stayed there for a while then went back home and on the way we stopped to see an old car museum. There were a lot of European cars that you never see in car shows in Ontario, so it was nice to see that collection of old cars since you never see them in a typical car show! Monday (I actually completely forget what we did then and I do not have pictures to remind me).  Tuesday Harri took me to the Spy Museum in Tampere to see the old spy equipment that they used and stories from the past. That night I got to tour around Tampere alone since Harri had a self defense class. It was a special type of self defense and I have forgotten the name of it. On Wednesday and Thursday I went to High School to talk about Canada in their English classes. The first day I met a few guys but then Thursday I managed to meet a lot more people which was nice! I am hoping on going back in May to see them again and also hangout with Tommi since I have not seen him in a year! Then Friday Harri and I went to Helsinki to some of his company offices and I also visited the Science Centre to see all the cool and interesting things they had there while he was at a meeting. I am pretty sure I was the oldest child there by at least 5 years... I am not even lying, I felt old aha! Finally on Saturday I was off at 9:30 am to start my long day of traveling. I got to Mora at 19:30 so it was a long day of sitting. On Sunday I relaxed and I went to watch the women Kais Mora team since they are in the semi finals. They won that game so they are up 2-0 in the series.  If they win the next game they will sweep the series!
So that was my entertaining Easter break week!!!  Thanks again to Harri, Elisa & Suvi for hosting me, I really enjoyed my stay with you.  It is only 3 more weeks until Tailor & Rachel arrive, I am really looking forward to their visit.
