Week 19:
Hello folks! This week was better mainly on the weekend and the title gives you a clue as to why. But I will talk about the week first.
Monday and Tuesday were the normal things I usually do in school and for training. On Wednesday we actually had our training with the ''Personal Trainer'' class. In that class you do multiple sports and you learn about healthy food habits and all that fun stuff. So, during our class with them so we did Zumba I guess it would have been and a few other things. After we did that, our Innebandy class taught little kids how to play Innebandy. We had them play small 4 on 4 games. We started that at 16:00 and we had them play until 16:40 and then for the last 20 min we had Christmas Fika with them. (I think you could call it that.) When I got home, Andreas (one of Maja's friends and also my teammate) messaged me telling me to get to the outdoor rink in Kråkberg. I got Martin's skates and a stick and went to play hockey on the outdoor rink! It was nice to play on it because it is a different atmosphere than always being inside and the ice was pretty good for an outdoor rink! Thursday was a regular day and that night I went to play hockey again since training was cancelled so I felt like doing something. Then Friday morning at Innebandy class we had a girl from Stockholm join us to see if she would come and take the class. We have had a few of these people who come and see if they like the Innebandy. Some of my class actually is not from Mora, they come here for the Innebandy class (This is my understanding).
Saturday during the day Maja worked at her job and Åsa, Tomas, and I went to have lunch there. She works at Zorn Cafe. For all of you that do not know who Anders Zorn is, he was a very famous artist from Mora. They still have his property and original house. He did two paintings of American Presidents and they actually are actually still on display in the White House. I will attach a link to a website about him so you can read more if you would like (click on his name)! To find info on him go to the ''About Us'' and his name will be there! Lastly, on Sunday my Innebandy team had a game against the 2nd place Falun team. We surprisingly managed to win the game. The final score was 8-6 even though on the website it says 7-6. Sunday was also the day I moved over to the Stenis's home for 2 weeks while my host family is in Florida. To recap who the Stenis's are, they are the family of my Swedish brother Johan who spent a year in my home in Canada. I am sure I will be able to share lots of fun stories about my time with them over the Christmas Holidays.
This was all the entertainment of week 19 and I am actually almost half way through my exchange. Time flies when you are having fun!

Lucia & Christmas Dinner
Week 18:
Hello! This last week had a bit more happen in it so my post will be a bit more exciting.
Lucia is celebrated on the 13th of December in Sweden. I have been told that she is the person who brings light since it is always so dark this time of the year. So she brings light to brighten things up...(I guess). Usually they pick a Lucia and she usually is blonde. Then her tärnor are the girls that follow her. There can also be guys that follow her and they are called stjärngoaar (I am getting this off of a website so if it is not right I am only partly responsible). So,Friday at school we had a Lucia celebration. We had an hour long celebration in the Assembly hall which involved Lucia and the people that follow her singing pretty much the whole celebration. Following the celebration we went over to the Cafeteria and had fika. This was pretty neat to experience and a highlight for the week.
Also at Innebandy practice there was a little entertainment! Thursday we were practicing and had the full team and I hit (hit=body check) a guy in the corner. Not bad, I mainly just rubbed him out to get the ball. But then we were in their end and they got the ball from us and a guy was looking back to receive the pass. When he got the pass he met me when he turned his head back around. It was a good clean hit and he did not like it that much but sometimes you just have to play the Canadian way. Then on the Sunday we had another Innebandy game. We played Sala in Sala. When we got to the arena and there were two police officers there. Andreas said it was because we where in the ghettos. I would say it was a better looking ghetto then America. After the game when I was going out to the van they told me to be careful because I might get shot because Sweden has so many guns over here! Anyways, we actually lost that game 11-7. I would say we played shitty defensively. That is only my opinion!
Saturday night I actually got to have a traditional Swedish Christmas dinner. I went with the Nilsson's because they will not be here for Christmas as they are in Florida for the break. We brought Grandpa (Åsa's dad) with us and also there was Tomas, Åsa, Maja and myself. There were some interesting foods, like the cured fish. I was not going to give that a try since I did not think it looked safe to eat, haha! However, I did have salmon caviar (caviar=fish eggs) on top of a square with the middle made of cream cheese and salmon (if I had to guess) and bread on the bottom. I quickly realized this was not my thing after I tried it, it did not taste so good. So I stuck with the usual ham, ribs and meatballs and for me that was good enough!
This wraps up week 18 and there are pictures and videos below of Lucia. Next week you might learn about some of my friends I have over here. But I am not sure yet......

First Week of December
Week 17:
Hello to everyone in Canada and those not from Canada! Week 17 was not that fun filled like some of the past weeks. As usual I went to school and did all of that fun stuff and also had innebandy practices during the evenings as usual.
I will talk about the food we have over here! I have ate most of my chocolate that Mom and Grandma sent to me, so I should be getting a new shipment this week...just kidding they probably will send it at the end of April with Tailor(hint, hint). Or if my followers would like to send donations of sweets, please do not hesitate to contact Shelley for my address, lol. Until then I will have to survive with Swedish peanut M&Ms. They actually do taste different the Canadian ones. Trust me!
So in Sweden I have tried many new foods. When we were at the YFU camp at the start we actually had a blind taste test. They mainly just wanted to see how we would react to the traditional Swedish food. I did not like the Pickled Herring which I am not sure when they eat that but it does taste very very bad! Also Salted licorice....same as the pickled herring, the salted licorice does taste very bad to someone who has never had it before. Those are some of the traditional foods I would say. Over here they seem to eat a lot of potatoes. For instance, I sometimes eat potatoes at lunch then again at supper (you start to get sick of potatoes) but you get use to it and suck it up! So I have ate a lot of potatoes during my time here and I am sure I will eat a lot more. We occasionally have pasta or rice but over here they usually put ketchup on their pasta. We saw this with Johan and Tommi (I think) so I kind of knew they did this. So it is not all that bad. I have also ate moose and deer or elk. I forgot which it was for sure(deer or elk)but it does not taste that bad. Also I have started to eat fish. Once you get use to it, it is not that bad but the first few times I did not love it.
Everyday at school they always have a new meal. Yes, you read that correctly. We are served a free hot meal each day in our cafeteria at school. I believe now they start to have the same meal every few weeks. One thing to note; never trust the bloodpudding over here. It looks like chocolate cake but it is definitely NOT! I believe I said that story in an older blog post. It was a very disturbing moment in my life and one I hope not to repeat.
So that pretty much sums up the food topic for this post so I will wrap it up here! I hope that gave some good info on the different foods we eat here! I hope you will drop by again next week for another light read.

First Innebandy Game
Week 16:
Hello for the 16th week of this blog. Last week was a bit more fun considering some exciting things happened.
Monday greeted me with a package with Christmas gifts Mom had sent during week 15. I was waiting for it to arrive and it arrived Monday(1 week from date sent which cost mom some serious bucks). I went to the Post Office to receive it and I almost could not receive it since I did not have the proper I.D. They prefer a Passport since I am from a different country then Sweden, so that would be the best I.D I could use. I forgot that there would be duty on it (Mom forgot to tell me that) and I had to pay about $87.00 CAD to get my package. Kind of a money grab considering what Mom had paid on her end but at least I have it now.
I gave the Nilsson's their gifts already (mainly because it was Tomas's Birthday Monday) so I thought it would be good to give it to them then. I also got a lot of chocolate sent to me from Grandma Verna, so I can not complain since it is my favourite chocolate. So that was the fun of Monday.
The rest of the week was the usual school. On Thursday I actually stayed home for the day since the Swedes in gr.1 in school had to write a national test for Swedish. I just chilled at home that day and slept in.
On Friday, I actually got to play my first Innebandy game with Kais. I am the first Canadian to play on Kais. They had an American once, so it is nice to put some Canadian experience there aha! We played 2 hrs. away in Gävle at 20:00. It was not a good game as we lost 13-4 I think. I also had a nice hit on a guy in the corner at least but Andreas said the best part of the game (he meant the trips to other places to play) was going to McDonald's for food. After our loss, we got some McDonald's and it seem to smooth things over a little.
The weekend was quiet. On Saturday I just hung around the house and Sunday I went to watch the Mens Kais Mora team. They lost 6-5. So yeah.... That is week 16 and it is the last week of November!
